Our first book!
If I were an Archaeologist by R. Hapke. Illustrations by R. Hapke & D. Wolters. Look below for sample pages!

This 489 word easy reader, revealing both hand-drawn and computer rendered illustrations, features a young boy’s dream of being an archaeologist: In a class assignment, a young boy’s teacher assigns the class to write an essay topic of ‘what they want to do when they grow up.’ Our young lad thinks and ponders with no real result. As most good teachers do, his teacher suggests combining his everyday talents and abilities for a job that seems unusual and exotic: archaeology. The boy’s mind begins to unravel with all sorts of places, situations and ideas. If I were an Archaeologist uses rhythm and rhyme to help young readers develop a tempo in their reading skills. The book offers some words to challenge and inspire young readers to learn (pharaoh, archaeologist and pyramid for example), while keeping in mind age and reading levels. The story is told in first person POV, and is the first in a series of children’s books focused on archaeology.
